HENNESSY ARTISTRY’S BIGGEST PARTY OF 2011

Written by VistaCrew on October 11, 2011 – 12:43 am -

Are you guys ready for the final installment of Hennessy Artistry? Held at the same location as last year’s Hennessy Artistry, which is Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre, this time, it is gonna be better, bolder, crazy and classier ever!!! The whole venue is going to transform into one enormous superclub with a classy world class set-up that will blow totally blow you away!

So, let’s check out the line of artist/DJ that’s gonna bring the house down!!!

Chris-Willis

Chris Willis is a singer/songwriter with a knack turning killer tracks into charttopping pop songs and a divo who can go mic-to-mic with the best of the pop divas any day of the week. is the man behind the powerhouse voice currently rocking American Top 40 radio with the hot new dance song, “Love Is Gone.” Lifted from “Pop Life,” the third album by French superstar producer and DJ, David Guetta, the single won a World Music Award in 2007 and in 2008 won the Winter Music Conference Club Award for “Best Club Anthem Of The Year” and the International Dance Music Award for “Best House/Garage Track.” “Love Is Gone” is one of five (5!) singles from “Pop Life” featuring the vocals (and often lyrics) of singer-songwriter, Chris Willis: Others are “Every Time We Touch,” “Tomorrow Can Wait,” “Never Take Away My Freedom,” and “Love Don’t Let Me Go (Walking Away).”

Yolanda-Be-Cool

With one record Yolanda Be Cool have gone straight to the top of the music industry A list. Their second single – ‘We No Speak Americano’ (co-produced with DCUP) sold over 5 million copies and hit number 1 in 18 countries; infiltrating radio waves, TV shows, and pretty much every dance floor in the world over the summer. You’d need to be a Tarantino assassinated corpse to have not felt its impact in some form. Also known as Johnson Peterson and Slyvester Martinez, Yolanda Be Cool have demonstrated that with the panache and production skills to back it up it’s possible to cultivate an international smash hit without the need for a major label vehicle, instead releasing on homegrown Australian indie ‘Sweat It Out’. With over ten years DJing under their belts their musical influences extend far beyond their Native Sydney, from old school hip hop, to Chicago house to techno to pretty much everything in between.

parkjungmin

Park Jung Min is a member of the South Korean group SS501 who released his first solo album in 2011. With his charismatic style, he is known as “SS501 Charisma” and often introduces himself as that. Jung-min is also known as the friendliest member in SS501. Known for his confident and playful personality, this Korean sensation has captured the hearts of girls around Asia with his good looks, dance moves, and powerful vocals. This multi-talented 24-year-old has also worked in the musical Grease playing the lead role of ‘Danny Park’ for which he won the “Golden Ticket Award” for Best Musical New Talent. His latest single, “Not Alone” was released in January 2011.

Landy-Wen

Taiwanese female R&B vocalist, Landy Wen is a member of the Atayal ethnic group and one of the few Taiwanese aborigines to become a musical star. Apart from singing, Landy has also acted in the Chinese drama, precious. Her foray into the silver screen will also see her play a role in the highly acclaimed Taiwanese action saga, Warriors of the Rainbow due to be released later this year.

GoldFish+Blink

Dubbed as The “King of KL Hip Hop”, There’s more to Goldfish than the Bling-Bling things. The amicable deejay is so versatile on the decks that he can render his skills to anything he wants. A firm crowd favorite, spinning royalty and DMC Champion. Over the years, he has played alongside big names such as Missy Elliott, Kanye West, Linkin Park, Black Eyed Peas and Prodigy.

DJ Blink, has definitely risen from the ranks of the clubbing masses to become an influential proponent of the KL underground scene. Inspired by the rave movement in KL at the turn of the millennium, Blink started DJ’ing progressive house for two years before heeding the ever-nagging call of Hip Hop turntablism. Today, Blink is now regarded as one of KL’s top DJs. To see DJ Blink on the bill would be a sign that you’re in for a night of raucous rhythms, funky beats and the requisite dancing till you drop. He is well known for his Lapsap nights (with partner Xu) as well as his solo sets at Zouk KL. A champion of the new emerging sound where electronica meets indie meets breaks meets anything goes style, you will be hard pressed to pin down the “sound”.

Takers

Written by A-lex on October 16, 2010 – 2:32 pm -

My favorite character is Ghost (Tip “T.I.” Harris). Why? Because he is the smooth talker.

A smooth talker can talk their way in and out from any situation turning it into an advantage. Be it business, or courting a women, a smooth talkers always has the advantages compare to others. When in working in a team, everyone will trust person to handle all the talking cause nothing will go wrong.

You know what? I have taken the “Which Taker are you?” quiz and this is my result.

The Switch Preview Screening with Advertlets

theswitch

Directed by: Josh Gordon and Will Speck
Written by: Allan Loeb
Starring: Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston, Jeff Goldblum, Thomas Robinson, Juliette Lewis, Patrick Wilson

Watched this movie before it was released in Malaysia and I must say, I’ve enjoyed it a lot! The movie tells the story of Wally’s best friend, Kassie who is desperate to have kids because she thinks she can’t wait any further longer for “the one” to show up in her life. What she doesn’t know is that, Wally hijacks her pregnancy by switching his own ‘ingredients’ with the real donor.

the-switch-movie-photo-04

The good:
- The kid who plays Sebastian spices up the movie for sure! With his unique characteristics and his adorable expressions sometimes.
- It’s funny to see how Wally tries to recover his memories; especially the Diana Sawyer part.
- Jennifer Aniston makes the whole scenario – single lady seeking for sperm donor process looks so much more easier, carefree and she’s not even ashamed of doing of.

the-switch-movie

The bad:

- Storyline gets a bit draggy towards the end of the movie; perhaps it would be nicer if the director creates more scenes which show Kassie loves Wally as well.
- Sebastian is a smart kid, but which 6 year old kid speaks like him in real life eh?

Nevertheless, this movie is worth watching for some laughs after a tiring day :) Thanks advertlets for the passes!

Its annual highlight event will be creating waves across the country as more than 4,000 party-goers can look forward to being treated to one incredible night where sights, sounds, and tastes will collide to form an eclectic and explosive clubbing experience.

WHERE? WHEN?

Saturday, October 23 will see the capacious Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC) at Mines Resort City transformed into one enormous club where revellers can expect to be blown away in what will undoubtedly be one of the largest and most sophisticated clubbing events the country has ever seen.

WHO you will expect to see?

Kardinal Offishall

Leading the line-up at the upcoming Hennessy Artistry party is Canadian Hip-Hop icon, Kardinal Offishall. Having started rapping at the age of eight and winning competitions by the time he was 12, Kardinal is the result of a mix of pure talent and an obsessed passion for music. Credited as Canada’s ‘hip-hop ambassador’ Kardinal teamed up with iconic music mogul, Akon and released the infamous ‘Dangerous’ track that echoed around the globe peaking at #5 on the Billboard 100. Now back with his latest Mr. International album, Kardinal Offishall is ready to infect the dance floors once again with his blend of dancehall reggae and hip-hop mesh.

Da Mouth

Staying true to Hennessy Artistry’s innovative approach in blending musical genres of the East and West, the upcoming H-Artistry party will also see Taiwan’s rhythm pumping HipHop quartet, Da Mouth, take on the stage. Regarded as the Black Eyed Peas of Asia, Da Mouth is storming through the international music scene with their high-energy performances and their concoction of multi-talented and multi-racial group members. Da Mouth’s fun and funky club hip-hop brings something different to mainstream Mando-pop, as does their unique member composition. The group is formed by many hyphens: Canadian-Taiwanese MC 40, Korean-Taiwanese-American male vocalist Harry, Japanese-Taiwanese DJ Chung Hua, and Japanese female vocalist Aisa. An Asian invasion hitting-up the spotlight, Da Mouth is set to rock Hennessy Artistry cum October 23.

Ready to rock any crowd off the ground, DJ Alex Dreamz has set his sights in bringing the house down with his signature club, electro, and house tunes.

Mizz Nina

Previously known as the hot siren from the ‘Teh Tarik Crew’, Mizz Nina is a force to be reckoned with as she dives headlong into turning the local music industry a notch higher.

Deja Voodoo Spells

Joining her is local powerhouse band, Deja Voodoo Spells. With an insatiable love for precision-based Rock music, the trio of rockers have garnered a reputation as a no frills, versatile, hard-hitting band. What If I’m a Russian Spy

Written by DumbDumb on July 19, 2010 – 11:30 pm -

Lots of “What If” could be achieved if I were a Russian spy.

To name a few;
#1 sneak into the headquarters of Steamyx and secretly upgrade the current broadband package that I’m subscribing to better package

#2 Kidnap all Domo-kuns in the world and present them to the girlfriend as she was once called “Domonapper” by her friend. (I secretly think she loves Domo more than me)

#3 To learn the arts of creating the world’s best ice cream in order to produce delicious ice creams so that the girlfriend will have unlimited access of them whenever she’s upset.

Anyways, those are only some of the minor things I could achieve if I were a Russian spy. Being a spy, of course, means that one is given great responsibilities at almost all times.

I think that the most important task that will be entrusted by Mother Russia to me would be making sure of myself to be invited to the screening of Salt by Nuffnang.

Sounds like an easy task but…. do not judge a mission by its complexities.

So, how am I going to achieve this mission impossible?

#1 Sits in front of computer
#2 Drafts out blog entry for this contest to win passes to premiere screening of Salt
#3 Thinks that the entry is lousy hence re-writes it
#4 Repeats step 2 – 3 until late night
#5 Decides to post the final entry (which is this) and starts praying

Tickets please before the gf kills me? :)
