What is Pownce? In a nutshell, it’s a combination of multiple services over the internet. If you knew about Twitter, then it’s more than that! Pownce is a totally new platform which lets you deliver instant messages, send files (be it photos, musics, documents or anything!), share links/events, and more!

Interesting? Of course! Let me tell you why Pownce came into the picture… Once upon some time… (Should be not long ago… *ahem*), a bunch of geeks felt frustrated when they are trying to send stuffs to each other… Moreover, they need to do different task on different sites, use different applications… Annoying ehh?? Then, this team of guys decided to create something all in one box… aha… tats the birth of Pownce! So, who’s the creators of this little application? I don’t think you will aware that the mastermind was a girl! Yes, it’s true! The leading developer of Pownce is Leah Culver, an American blonde which done most of the codings by herself! Of course, there’s still assistances from others… Daniel Burka, the designer creates the user interfaces on both the web and desktop application. Shawn Allen, a gentlemen creates the desktop application and API. And the famed Kevin Rose, founder of Digg.com helps brainstorming on the features and advises the company… All together, they formed Megatechtronium, the developing company of Pownce.

Well, Pownce is currently under testing phases I believe… Only invited users could get their hands dirty on it… I’d requested for an invitation and hope I could get it soon… So, no testing for the current time being… Sorry! You may want to read on reviews from others here. Ooh… forgot to mention, Pownce allows skin changing… cool! And nice design of their applications too!

Besides a web based application, their desktop application was developed based on the Adobe AIR platform. Wow! that’s a totally new technology to be implemented. So, you can also run Pownce without opening your web browser! And guess what, you can even see flashy effects without the need of a flash player too!
